HEADS FOR WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS TITLE
Durban KwaZulu-Natal Convention Bureau (KZNCB) took top spot once again as Africa’s leading meetings and conference destination, in the 29th annual World Travel Awards Africa.
This week, the KZN Convention Bureau beat Nairobi (Kenya), Kigali (Rwanda), Johannesburg and Cape Town for the top spot in Africa and now goes up against some of the world’s best in the category World’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination 2022.
This is the eighth year that the KZNCB has walked away with the trophy since 2014, beaten only by Nairobi in 2016.
As an independent body Durban KZN Convention Bureauis dedicated to promoting and marketing KwaZulu-Natal’s many business event facilities, capabilities, and assets, both nationally and internationally.
“We are delighted that the KZNCB retained its position as the leading meetings and conference destination in Africa. This award is testimony to the KZNCB’s commitment to ensuring that KZN remains South Africa’s premier meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions destination. Moreover, it continues to build stakeholder confidence in the province as a business tourism destination.” said Mr Siboniso Duma MEC Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs,
“The World Travel Awards represent one of the most rigorous industry peer review programmes. Durban truly has more to offer, and this industry badge is one such indicator,” he said.
On the world stage KZNCB is the only African destination pitted against Abu Dhabi (UAE), Auckland (New Zealand), Bogota (Colombia), Cancun (Mexico), Dubai (UAE), Guayaquil (Ecuador), Las Vegas (USA), Madrid (Spain), Melbourne (Australia), Mexico City (Mexico), Paris (France), Seoul (South Korea), and Singapore.
